Project Rescue is Bible based and church focused!

Galatians 6:1 points to the recovering addict’s need of restoration and healing:   “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness…”

1 Timothy 4:16 points to the importance of both practical and doctrinal instruction:  Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.”

We have included both doctrinal and practical instruction in our daily activities.

We also want to give our members a good taste of the church, which they get when we assemble with the Beltline church of Christ on Sundays and Wednesday evenings.  Many Beltline members are serving as mentors to the men.

Project Rescue is blessed to have some very talented laborers:

Charles Baggett, the director of Project Rescue, is the chaplain for the largest prison (Limestone) in Alabama.  He is also a Gospel Preacher.  He and his wife Martha have been ministering to addicts for many years.

Ronnie Crocker, the program manager of Project Rescue, was addicted to drugs for 15 years, obeyed the Gospel in prison, was released in 1989, graduated from Memphis School of Preaching in 1993, and has preached for several churches of Christ.  He and his wife Jeanie established Project Rescue in 2007.

Larry Williams Jr. has recently joined our staff as the assistant program manager.  Larry studied Bible and counseling at Heritage Christian University and criminal justice at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Gospel preacher, Roger Jackson volunteers his time 2 to 3 days a week to study one-on-one with the men,  He is teaching them how to study the Bible (basic Bible hermeneutics).  Roger is a graduate (1970) of the Memphis School of Preaching.  He also has an AA degree from Alabama Christian College (now Faulkner) and a BA degree from The School Of Religion (now Regions University).

Dona Drake, a member of the Madison church of Christ, has a Master's Degree.   Dona is a certified trainer for SFT  Awareness.  SFT Awareness (Searching For Truth Awareness) is an outreach of the churches of Christ.  Dona comes 2 to 3 days a week to meet one-on-one with the men.

Sam Drake teaches a CASA (Christians Against Substance Abuse) class on Friday nights.  He uses the New Life Behavior curriculum.  Sam has many years of experience ministering to souls struggling with addictions.

Another aspect of Project Rescue is to help the men become self-supported, so they do not need to rely on their parents for financial support.  We help them to find a job and save their money.   To those who have the financial support, we help them to enroll at Calhoun College.
