Progress Reports
Dear Brethren,Project Rescue is an effort to minister to members of the churches of Christ and their family members who are struggling with addiction to alcohol and drugs.
The purpose of this letter is to update you on the progress of the Project Rescue Addiction Recovery Program. We appreciate your prayers and support!!
I will begin with the most important matter, the souls we are helping.
We presently have 3 members in the program.
Chris (36 years old) just completed 90 days in the program. He has decided to remain for at least 1 year. He has also overcome his cigarette addiction. He is now functioning as our House Manager. Chris' parents are members of the church of Christ in Dothan, Alabama where his father is a deacon.
Travis (37 years old) has completed 30 days in the program and is now working a job in the community. Travis' mom is a faithful member of the church in Kerrville, Texas.
Beau (27 years old), who has been with us 1 week, is having a tough time adjusting to life without drugs. His parents are members of the church in West Palm Beach, Florida, where his father is a deacon.
Bill Nicks (a Gospel preacher) is teaching Proverbs. Jim Arnold (a Christian and prison warden) is teaching the book of James. I am teaching how I overcame addiction by learning and applying the Word of God to every situation in my life. My wife Jeanie and our daughter Kim frequently check the apartments for cleanliness and order. They challenge the men with things like proper bed making, doing their laundry, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, etc.
We also attend 12-step meetings in the community. Wednesday evenings and all day Sundays are devoted to church Bible study, worship and fellowship. On Fridays we visit City Boulevard church members and do evangelistic door knocking in the community.
Chris and Beau work about 5 hours a day on the refurbishing of the apartment building. Friday evenings and Saturdays are for recreational activities and personal study. We limit the time they can watch TV.
We are now ready to house one more program member in the duplex on Oxford Street.
We are working on the apartment building on Forrest Avenue. In about 1 month we should have 2 apartments completed and be ready to house four more program members.
