Progress Reports

Dear Brethren,
I am glad to update you on the progress of the Project Rescue Addiction Recovery Program. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated! We presently have 5 men in the program! So far, their scriptural and spiritual progress has been very positive. Besides attending all of the services of the church, these men also attend group and one-on-one Bible classes every morning and evening Mondays thru Thursdays. On Fridays we schedule visits with church members and community outreach. They also work 5 hours a day Monday-Thursday. I have pasted below a progress report on each of the souls in our program. You can find more information about Project Rescue at www.projectrescue.org Feel free to call me any time at 912-816-0518. In His service, Ronnie Crocker, minister P.S. = We presently have an urgent need for financial help to get the apartment building completed. The duplex is full, and I am afraid we may soon be forced to turn someone away who needs our help. The city code limits the number we can accommodate in each apartment. Our focus now is to get the top 2 apartments ready for 4 more men. The roof needs repairs, and we still need to install the flooring and furnish these apartments.

“Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” James 5:19,20 Chris has been with us since October 12, 2007. He was addicted to opiates. He also quit smoking cigarettes. Chris is functioning as our House Manager. He is now beginning to teach the Scriptures to others. He has presented a Wednesday night invitation and taught several classes in the prison. This Sunday morning he will present a lesson to the teens on the importance of the church. Chris’ parents are members of the church of Christ in Dothan Alabama where his father is a deacon.

Travis has been in the program since December 16, 2007. He was addicted to crack cocaine and alcohol. Last Lord’s day Travis was baptized into Christ! He has come a long way in his grasp of spiritual principles. He recently quit smoking cigarettes. He continues to work a job in the community. He has decided to remain in the program another 90 days. We plan to give him more and more freedom if he continues to grow spiritually. Next month, he will begin to present the invitation and teach in the prison. Travis’ mom is a faithful member of the church in Kerrville, Texas.

Beau entered the program on January 10, 2008. He was addicted to marijuana and prescription medications. He loves to study the Bible and wants to train to be a preacher. I told him that if he remains faithful for one year I will help him get into a preaching school. He grades the Jule Miller and John Hurt lessons as the men turn them in. He has presented the invitation and he has taught in the prison. Beau’s parents are members of the Lord’s church in West Palm Beach, Florida, where his father is a deacon.

David has been with us since January 30, 2008. He was addicted to crack cocaine. He became addicted to drugs later in life. Therefore he is having an easier time than the others. He has also served in our military. David did a fine job presenting the invitation last night after our Bible study. He is also teaching in the prison. David’s wife is a member of the church of Christ in Quitman, Georgia.

Jeremy recently arrived on February 25, 2008. He was addicted to crack cocaine. He is having a tough time adjusting to a life without drink and drugs. He has a great attitude though and is open to Bible study and involvement in the church. Like Travis, Jeremy realizes he needs to obey the Gospel of Christ. He has already begun the Jule Miller lessons. We do not push them to immediately be baptized. We want them to know what they are doing! Jeremy’s grandmother is a member of the church of Christ in Munford, Alabama.

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:1,2
