Progress Reports
June/2008 Project Rescue Addiction Recovery Program Update
Dear brethren,
Paul
was emotionally attached to the souls in his care:
“…I ought to have joy,
having confidence in you all that my joy is the
joy of you all. For
out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with
many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know
the love which I have so abundantly for you.”
2 Corinthians 2:3,4
Likewise, we are emotionally attached to the men we are helping to
overcome their addictions.
We rejoice, when they respond
positively to our ministering and we anguish when they do not.
To see a soul prosper right before our
eyes is a great privilege!!
I want to first report on the progress and a
recent development concerning Beau.
He has grown a lot in the 185 days he has
been with us.
He has overcome
much! Going from a 600mg to zero mg
daily dose of the psychotic drug (Seroquel) was very difficult for
him. He has also overcome his
addiction to nicotine which was not an easy task.
We caught the man sharing an apartment with Beau sneaking out
to attend a drug party. Beau chose not
to fall away with this man.
The recent development concerning Beau has
shocked us!
Beau's
wife (estranged) called him and informed him that she was no longer
able to care for their 3 year old daughter, Alice.
She asked Beau to come and get her.
Beau and Alice arrived from Florida last night at
10.
We were/are not prepared to have a little girl in
our care.
However, we knew we had to allow Beau to bring
her to Waycross.
All day yesterday Jeanie, Kim and Marlee had to quickly transform one of our apartments from a bachelor pad to a princess' pad.
Here Is Alice in her new home:

Brethren, we need
any financial help you can give us.
We love this work and this
opportunity and are willing to spend and be spent.
But we are already overwhelmed financially.
With Alice here, we know that there are going to
be additional expenses to meet the many needs of a 3 year old.
Any financial help that you can give us will be greatly appreciated.
Chris has been with us 275 days. He just returned form a 3 week stay with his parents. His dad was happy to see how much Chris had grown. It was a great visit. Chris is presently looking for a job with an electrician. Chris’ parents are members of the church of Christ in Dothan, Alabama.
David has been with us 20 days after returning to the program. After 90 days, David graduated from the program and returned home to his family. He did well for the first month. However David did not become active in reaching the lost and helping others (which is a must for recovering addicts). Therefore he became bored and relapsed back into drug dependence. We are glad David repented and placed himself back in the program. He and 2 other program members are starting a lawn maintenance business. David’s wife is a member of the church of Christ in Quitman, Georgia.
Randy has been in the program 81 days. He is doing much better in his struggle with depression. He is growing in his knowledge and application of God’s Word. He has been having a tough time finding a job, due to his bad back. This is why we decided to help Randy and 2 of the other guys to start a lawn maintenance business. Randy’s mother is a member of the church of Christ in Evansville, Indiana. Randy recently quit smoking.
Ryan has been with us 57 days. He is the youngest one in the program. Ryan turns 21 this Sunday. He is working for Beau installing carpet and tile. He has grown a lot in understanding the Bible and living the Christian life. He has had to work hard to change his attitude from bad to good. His parents are members of the church in Fernandina, Florida.
Kevin has been in the program 45 days. He is retired, so he will not be going out to work in the community. Kevin’s home congregation is supporting him in the program for the next 2 months. Our main goal for Kevin, as well as the others is to learn the basics of God’s word. We also want to get him involved in personal evangelism. His wife is a member of the church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kevin recently quit smoking.
John has been with us 29 days. He was baptized into Christ on June 29th. His mother and 2 year old boy were here to witness his baptism. He was involved in the church only when he was very young and then he stopped. John is learning the basics of the Bible. His mother is a member of the church of Christ in Stuart, Florida.
Travis graduated on June 12th after being in the program 182 days. He attends worship on Sunday mornings. He also attends some of our meetings. Travis has an apartment in Waycross and works for ScotBuilt Mobile Homes. We will not count him a success until he has been drug and alcohol free for 1 year. We pray Travis makes it.
Wes left our program for another drug program in town with less strict rules. He is attending different AA meetings so we don’t have much contact with him at this time. He seems to be doing well from all the reports we have received.
Jeremy has experienced a relapse since leaving us prematurely (after 44 days). We learned from his grandmother that he has picked himself up and recovered from that incident. Since relapse is a part of recovery, we are not surprised when this happens. We just pray that he will be able to remain strong. Jeremy’s grandmother is a member of the church of Christ in Munford, Alabama.
In addition to our emotional attachment to
these men, we have just made a new attachment.
My son, Paul and his wife, Kimberly
just had a 9 lb 11 oz baby boy on Tuesday – Cohen Brice Crocker.
Jeanie and I will be taking a few days
for baby spoiling in Tennessee next week.
In His service,
Ronnie Crocker, minister
